The tax is rather high and tons of landlords try to avoid this. It is a quite common practice, particularly among students which search for as cheap accommodation as possible. In such case, renting with no legal contract might help to cut down the cost. However, you should be aware that it is rather a risky practice. Finally, always carefully check the location. A property may seem to be close to the city centre or another place you are especially interested in. Nonetheless, it might be true just from a “geographicall” point of view. This means that to actually reach the city centre, you will need to change trams three times or there will be no connecting road. Sometimes places that are more remoted are much better connected with another part of the city than those “geographically” close. Thus, you shouldn’t focus solely on the remoteness in kilometres. Always check also roads, train connections or other similar factors that might be important for you later.
